Thank you, Asia "Monkeys" (48 days until Wisconsin)

Monkeys are fun!

Right?

Sure.  Monkeys are a riot.  We have had several occasions to encounter monkeys while on our travels.

While in Sri Lanka (March 2013), a whole monkey tribe would arrive at the resort every morning at the same time - early.  Right as the staff was getting everything opened up and ready for breakfast.  Brent and I would sit on the outdoor furniture, await their arrival, and watch the staff shoo them away - again and again. And again.  Sure.  They were fun for us for a few days taking pictures, but I am quite certain they were a pain in the butt for the workers.

In Bali (Sept 2013) we went to the Monkey Park where you could simply stand around and have monkeys approach you, climb on you, and look for food!  Always always look for food.  And this is where it got tricky.  They can be quite aggressive when you have food.  So everyone is told prior to entering the park NOT to bring food.  But, of course, not everyone follows those rules.

As a matter of fact, I distinctly remember a story a colleague once told of her first real encounter with monkeys when working with grade schoolers in Malaysia.  She took her class outside to play.  She had them bring their lunch, set it along the fence, then go to play.  Little did she know that was the LAST thing to ask the students to do!  Pretty soon a tribe of monkeys came and stole all the lunch bags, carrying them into the forest!

So, yes.  It is pretty cool seeing monkeys while on VACATION in Asia.
